The Cookeville High School Fine Arts Department offers students learning and practical experiences in the visual arts, marching band, performance and vocal music, dance, and theatre.
The visual arts classes are instructed by Faye Watts, Mitchell White, Cephas Ablakwa, and Robin Ford. The class offerings are Art I through Art IV. The Art IV classes offer students a concentrated experience in painting and drawing, ceramics, printmaking, or sculpture.
The dance classes offered are for the introductory, intermediate, or advanced student, with choices of Dance I through Dance IV. The classes are instructed by Merry Flatt. The students enrolled in these courses also participate in a semester recital.
Theatre Arts classes present students with experiences on stage, in set design and construction, and stage management. The classes offered are Drama I, II, and III. Students are given the opportunity to audition for a play each semester. The drama courses are instructed by Molly Malone.
Lastly, the music classes at Cookeville High School are instructed by David Talbert and Michael Choate. Both instructors teach Piano I and II, while Mr. Talbert instructs the marching band, symphonic band, and percussion ensembles. Mr. Choate instructs freshman choir, treble choir, as well as the advanced and select choirs. Students in each of the classes are given multiple opportunities to perform throughout each semester.
