Congressman Diane Black Invites Students to Academy Day

Congressman Diane Black Invites Students to Academy Day

Congressman Diane Black is pleased to host her Fifth Annual Academy Day. As the 6th District Representative in the U.S. House, each year Congressman Black has the privilege of nominating a limited number of people to four of the five service academies. In order to educate and prepare students of the 6th District for potential admission to the Military Service Academies, Congressman Black requests your assistance in informing your students about our event by: Printing and posting the attached informational flyer about our event. Forwarding the attached news article to your student newspaper for publishing. Asking your school principal to make the attached public address announcements. Sending the attached email to parents of students. The above documents are embedded as PDFs below the text of this email. If you have any problems copying and pasting, please contact our office and we will send them to you as an attachment. Following a short program that begins at 10:00 AM, students, parents, school counselors and school administrators will meet in an informal setting with representatives, alumni, current cadets and midshipmen from all five Military Service Academies. Attendees will also meet with ROTC representatives to learn about available college scholarships. Admission to an academy is very competitive so we encourage not only upper classmen to attend, but also freshmen and sophomores in order for them to create their personal plan for high school that includes academics, extracurricular activities, and leadership positions. Should you have questions about Academy Day or the nomination process please contact Kenna Balch, Academy Coordinator by email at kenna.balch@mail.house.gov or call 615-206-8204.
