Hatcher: This summer, tnAchieves is offering the Summer Bridge Program at all 13 community colleges. This is the third year we have been able to offer this program, so you may have heard of it before. If you have not, this program is a FREE 3-week academic boot camp designed to assist students in testing out of learning support classes they otherwise would be required to take their first semester of college. Students will take classes in reading, writing and math, and will have a lunch and learn session each day to provide information on what it means to be a successful college student. On the final day of the program, students will complete a placement test. Any student requiring remedial courses is eligible to apply. If a student is interested in participating, they simply need to complete the application here: https://tnachieves.org/students2017/summer-programs/summer-bridge-program-application/ Hatcher: Congressman Diane Black is pleased to announce that she is now accepting applications for nominations to the Military Service Academies for the class of 2021. Nominations are required for the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The U.S. Coast Guard Academy does not require a nomination. Any upcoming seniors that are interested in applying for a service academy may now log on to Congressman Black’s website at www.black.house.net → Serving You → Military Academy Nomination and fill out an application. Please encourage your students to read the FAQ’s before submitting the application to Congressman Black’s academy coordinator.
