Lori Strode: Attention Seniors! CHS will be hosting FAFSA Frenzy Night Monday October 23 from 5:00-8:30 PM. Representatives from the state and the financial aid offices of TTU, VolState, and TCAT will be here to assist you and your parents in filling out the FAFSA. Your parents should bring their 2016 tax return information in order to complete the FAFSA application. If you filed a tax return in 2016, you will need to bring in your information as well. You and your parents are encouraged to attend this informative meeting!
Lori Strode: Attention Parents of Juniors and Seniors! TTU is hosting it’s annual College and Career Fair on Tuesday October 24. We will depart from campus at 8:30 and return before lunch. There is no cost to the students, however STUDENTS MUST RETURN THEIR SIGNED PERMISSION SLIP TO THE 2ND FLOOR COUNSELING CENTER NO LATER THAN SEPTEMBER 29. Students will NOT be permitted to attend if they do not have the permission slip turned in by the September 29 deadline. Students attending must also have their school ID with them to be allowed on the bus the day of the trip. Permission slips will be distributed at the Junior and Senior meetings and will also be available in the counseling center and online at cookevillecavs.org after September 13, 2017.
Lori Strode: Attention Seniors! The first TN Promise meeting will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 11:00 in the CHS Auditorium. This meeting is for students only and counts as the first required meeting students must attend to be eligible to receive TN Promise.
Darlene Hatcher: 10th and 11th : Governor’s Schools applications are available online at https://www.tn.gov/education/topic/tdoe-governors-schools. The completed application is due to the guidance office on November 20th so that the deadlines can be met.
Lori Strode: Attention Sophomores and Parents! There will be an informational meeting regarding Sophomore year Monday, September 25, 2017 at 5:00 PM in the CHS Auditorium. Important topics will be discussed. You are strongly encouraged to attend.
Ciara Pittman: Are you interested in making a difference? Do you want to be involved in your school and make new friends? Whether you are looking to make a difference, get involved in school activities, or make friends, CHS T.E.S.T. club is the club for you! Join us in the lecture hall during lunch on Friday, September 22 to sign up. We welcome all students. T.E.S.T. club has no cost to join and simply requires members to be active participants. Michelle Bowman: iAM Club will hold its Kick-Off meeting on September 26th during the FIRST half of lunch. We will meet in room 262. Some surprises will be in store for those in attendance. We hope to see you there!!
Kim Pack: The Science National Honor Society’s school-wide Science Fair is this Friday, September 22nd. Stop by the Commons Area at 3:30 after school on Friday to view the entries and learn something!
Lori Strode: Attention Seniors! September 25-29 is College App Week! You are encouraged to start applying to colleges this week. Many colleges require you to apply and be accepted to their university before you can apply for their scholarships, so it is very important to apply early! Your counselors will be available in the Lecture Hall Wednesday, September 27 and Friday, September 29 during your lunchtime to assist you with the college application process.
R. Robinson: This Friday we will have an IB Ambassadors meeting during the first half of lunch in Ms. Robinson’s room. Reminder, if you are a diploma candidate you are required to be in this organization. However, if you are just an IB student you are more than welcome to attend.
Michael Choate: Due to low ticket sales, the Sadie Hawkins Dance has been postponed, we will announce a later date soon. We will issue refunds Wednesday, Sept. 27th during lunch in the Commons Area.
