Michael Choate: Sadie Hawkins Dance is Saturday, September 23rd 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm in the CHS Commons Area. Tickets will be sold Thursday, 9/14, Friday 9/15, and everyday the week of 9/18 during lunch. Tickets are $10.00 each and ONLY CHS students are allowed to attend. You will need your School ID to purchase tickets and to be admitted to the dance.

Lori Strode: Attention Seniors! CHS will be hosting FAFSA Frenzy Night Monday October 23 from 5:00-8:30 PM. Representatives from the state and the financial aid offices of TTU, VolState, and TCAT will be here to assist you and your parents in filling out the FAFSA. Your parents should bring their 2016 tax return information in order to complete the FAFSA application. If you filed a tax return in 2016, you will need to bring in your information as well. You and your parents are encouraged to attend this informative meeting!

Lori Strode: Attention Parents of Juniors and Seniors! TTU is hosting it’s annual College and Career Fair on Tuesday October 24. We will depart from campus at 8:30 and return before lunch. There is no cost to the students, however STUDENTS MUST RETURN THEIR SIGNED PERMISSION SLIP TO THE 2ND FLOOR COUNSELING CENTER NO LATER THAN SEPTEMBER 29. Students will NOT be permitted to attend if they do not have the permission slip turned in by the September 29 deadline. Students attending must also have their school ID with them to be allowed on the bus the day of the trip. Permission slips will be distributed at the Junior and Senior meetings and will also be available in the counseling center and online at cookevillecavs.org after September 13, 2017.

Lori Strode: Attention Seniors! The first TN Promise meeting will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 11:00 in the CHS Auditorium. This meeting is for students only and counts as the first required meeting students must attend to be eligible to receive TN Promise.

Darlene Hatcher: ​10th and 11th : Governor’s Schools applications are available online at https://www.tn.gov/education/topic/tdoe-governors-schools. The completed application is due to the guidance office on November 20th so that the deadlines can be met.

Attention Cavs! Next week is Homecoming 2017! This year’s theme is Music Genres-Make Some Noise. Music from each genre will be played in the commons during lunch.
Beginning Monday, T-shirts will be available for $15 at lunch in the commons all week.
A dodge ball tournament will be held each day during lunch in the upper gym. Registration will be in the commons this Thursday(14) and Friday(15). The cost is $3.
The evening of Thursday the 14th, we will be having a night time glow in the dark pep rally at the field starting at 7 pm. Freaky Dave is our honorary emcee and the results of the class banner competition will be revealed at that time.
Friday we play Coffee County here at the school at 7 pm. There will be class sponsored Extreme Tailgating in the parking area by the tennis courts from 4:30 to 6:00. Stop by for interactive games and fun before we beat Coffee County.

Molly Risley: CHS Faculty and Staff, Just a reminder that the CHS Academic Team will be using rooms on the first and second floor for an academic tournament on Saturday from 8-5. We will also be in the Lecture Hall. Please let Ms. Risley know if you will allow the team to use your room.

Science Olympiad
Interested in science? Science Olympiad is a national nonprofit organization in which teams of 15 students compete in events pertaining to earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, computers, and technology.

It is an extracurricular activity that is prized by admission committees for prestigious summer programs, such as Governor’s Schools, and by college and scholarship evaluation committees.

Events for Science Olympiad follow the format of popular board games, TV shows and athletic games. They are designed to showcase teamwork and cooperation while improving overall academic performance.
